Bits and Pieces of Progress
I'm realizing the importance of this art history text as the stubborn papers continue to fight being glued and are responding crazily to wet paint...this resistance has helped me to further let go of the desire for perfection or even simply a very 'clean' page.
The book that I've chosen to use is a cheap Border's blank book that I've had for years and never done anything with. It was billed as a sketchbook, but the weight of the paper is akin to maybe a decent quality printer paper. Therefore, with the advice of other journalers and common sense, I've been gluing 2 or 3 pages together for strength and durability. I've yet to perfect the gluing process and find the warping of pages a little frustrating at times, but I keep reminding myself that it adds.. character.
I've spent my time this weekend working on various creative process tasks.
- I changed the look of my blog page so that it feels more inviting (to me). It may change again as we go along.
- I spent some time cleaning and reorganizing my studio space. (yes, that's the organized version, hah!) It also doubles as the office so it can get a little crazy at times, but at least it has a window! There is definitely something to the notion of having an organized, designated space to create that makes the process of art making almost sacred.
